The Leon Health API is a standards-based RESTful API that enables third party application vendors to connect their applications for access to Leon Health data.

The Leon Health API utilizes Smile™ Digital Health as the back-end FHIR server and authorization provider, and conforms to following standards and implementation guides:

Patient Access API

The Patient Access API provides Leon Health members with secure access to retrieve and share their comprehensive healthcare data, including medical records, prescription information, dental care, and vision services. Members can export up to 5 years of their historical healthcare information through this secure interface.

This RESTful API is built to comply with R4 FHIR standards, SMART on FHIR protocols, and CARIN Blue Button version STU1(1.0) specifications.

Provider Directory API

Leon Health provides a comprehensive Provider Directory service that allows current and potential members to identify which healthcare providers are covered under specific Leon Health insurance plans. This service encompasses multiple FHIR-compliant APIs including InsurancePlan, Practitioner, PractitionerRole, Organization, and Location endpoints.

These APIs are developed in accordance with HL7 R4 FHIR specifications and adhere to the DaVinci PDEX Plan Net Implementation Guide standards.
